The Darker Side of the City
It seems like movies and TV shows with darker tones are trumping the happily ever after stories more and more. And I’m not saying that to be cynical or anything, I’m definitely a fan! There’s something about that sort of raw grittiness that keeps me on the edge of my seat (Dexter, anyone?).
However, shooting this grittiness can be tricky. You want it to look right without actually having to be in a…shall we say, less than desirable environment? This is a problem that Huntington Beach can help solve.
Behind Main Street lies a plethora of “shady” locations. Or at least, if played correctly, they certainly look that way. Just turn the corner down one of the alleyways and you’re in a whole new world.
Beneath the pretty exterior of Main Street, with its gleaming store fronts, community street fairs and local restaurants are graffiti covered walls, pumping oil derricks, and rusty barbed wire fences – all within distance of your safely parked car!
