Weather Channel’s new television series, Lifeguard!, documents various rescue mission carried out by lifeguards up and down the coast of Southern California.

Adeela is a Muslim-American woman who grew up being influenced by two very different cultures. When she moves to a small suburban town, she catches the eye of a councilman's son, Aaron. Together, the couple push for Adeela to sing the national anthem at the town's 4th of July festival; much to the chagrin it's citizens.

It seems like movies and TV shows with darker tones are trumping the happily ever after stories more and more. And I’m not saying that to be cynical or anything, I’m definitely a fan! There’s something about that sort of raw grittiness that keeps me on the edge of my seat (Dexter, anyone?).
